Vine 2 Wine Classic
The 13th Annual Vine 2 Wine Classic returns to its original venue the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia. The event is scheduled for Saturday evening, August 16, 2014, from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Logix Federal Credit Union will once again be the Title Sponsor and this event benefits the local non-profit organization Circle of Hope which serves the needs of women & men in the Santa Clarita Valley diagnosed with breast cancer.
The Vine 2 Wine Classic is excited to introduce its newest addition to the event, the “Barley 2 Beer” experience. This year’s guests will experience craft beer hand selected especially for this event by Simon and Shannon Mee, owners of the Newhall Refinery and the famous Egg Plantation. We are extremely fortunate to have Simon and Shannon involved because they bring so much knowledge and experience to our event. With the addition of the “Barley 2 Beer” craft beer experience you will now have the best of both worlds!
“We are looking forward to a fabulous event, bigger and better than last year, and are excited to return to Cal Arts for our 2014 event,” comments Circle of Hope Executive Director Ray Tippet. We anticipate a sellout crowd of 750 people, so we urge everyone who loves wine, beer, delicious food, live music, and a great excuse to get out of the house on a Saturday night, to get their tickets online.
This year, in addition to the live music of Jimmy Carnelli, there will be a raffle of rare and desirable wines, a silent auction of current and older vintage wines, and many other fun and fantastic items to bid on.

Alaskan Freeride APA – American Pale Ale
5.3% ABV, 40 IBU – Alaskan Freeride APA is brewed with Cascade, Citra, and Centennial hops, premium two-row and specialty crystal malts, and Juneau’s glacier-fed water.
Alaskan Amber – Kolsch/Altbier
5.3% ABV, 18 IBU – Our flagship beer is based on a turn-of-the-century recipe that quenched the thirst of miners during the Klondike Gold Rush. Smooth and richly malty, this altbier goes well with any meal.
Poleeko Gold – American Pale Ale

Summer Solstice – Cream Ale/Spiced Ale

With hints of caramel in the nose and a touch of spice, it’s become affectionately known as “cream soda for adults”. The unique flavors and superior drinkability make for the ultimate refreshment on a hot summer day.
Boont Barl – Amber Ale aged in Wild Turkey Barrel
6% ABV, 16 IBU- What began with our flagship Boont Amber Ale and a passion for experimentation has become a unique addition to our Anderson Valley Wild Turkey Barl Series. The six month aging process in third-use Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels imparts flavors of coconut and vanilla and subtle bourbon aromas that are enhanced by a noticeable oak character in the finish. A great accompaniment to fine meals or to be enjoyed on its own, Boont Barl is a truly sessionable barrel-aged beer with finesse. MALTS: Pale Two-Row, Crystal (40L & 80L) HOPS: Columbus, Bravo, Northern Brewer, Mt. Hood.
Gold Line Pilsner – German Style Pilsner

6.1%, 65 IBU – Big, bold, grapefruit hop flavors and aroma best characterize this medium-bodied, copper-hued beer. Pomme (Apple)- Fruit Lambic
3.5% ABV – Long before hops were common in most beers, various fruits and herbs were used to season beers. The clean, bright aroma and flavor of apples melds beautifully with the complex tartness of lambic. Smooth, light body with the fresh flavor of real apples and a light green-apple tartness.
Bockor Cuvee des Jacobins Rouge – Red Sour
5.5% ABV – The beer Cuvée des Jacobins is unblended old lambic, aged for at least 18 months in (French) oak barrels from the cognac region. These oak barrels are called ’Foeders’ in Dutch. It has a robust character but is beautiful and sophisticated with a full body and overtones of vanilla, dried cherry, stone fruit and cocoa. It is a complex, beautiful sour beer.
Clementine – Belgian Wit Beer with Clementine
5.9% ABV – Clementine is Clown Shoes Beer’s Belgian style White Ale. Light-bodied and crisp, this is a terrific White Ale with plenty of zest! Hazy in appearance and healthily carbonated, it utilizes Chambly yeast to energetically shape its wheat malt base. Incorporated in the brewing process is Clementine, sweet orange peel, a hint of Coriander, and Summit hops. At a sly, easy-drinking 5.9%, Clementine is dynamic and flavorful enough to satisfy discerning craft beer palates, yet light enough to count among “sessionable” beers.
Galactica – Imperial IPA
8% ABV, 86 IBU – Galactica, a hop staff wielding heroine, patrols in karate kick mode through the heavens. Her mission: cosmic combat to promote good beer. Dry hopped with Galaxy hops, a clean malt backbone enhances the dank and luscious IPA flavors.
Chocolate Sombrero – Imperial Stout
9% ABV – Roasted dark malts plus extra chocolate malts plus ancho chile plus cinnamon plus organic vanilla extract plus a chocolate eating, beer drinking, Clown Shoes wearing, multi limbed, gorgeous and glorious Mexican wrestler on the label. That’s the recipe for a Chocolate Sombrero!
Chainbreaker – White IPA
5.6% ABV, 50 IBU – Brewed with wheat and pilsner malt; this IPA displays beautiful citrus aromas from Cascade and Citra hops that meld with the esters of Belgian yeast. Think thirst quenching hopped-up wit beer with enough IBUs to warrant the IPA name.
Black Butte – Porter
5.2% ABV – With a dark beer as our first and flagship brand, Black Butte defined Deschutes as a radical player. A slight hop bitterness up front enhances the distinctive chocolate and roasted finish. It’s prized for its creamy mouthfeel and intense complex flavors.
Davy Brown – Brown Ale
6% ABV, 60 IBU – Davy Brown Ale is a deep, caramel beer that combines wonderful roasted malt, light chocolate flavor, and a blend of Northern and Cascade hops. Named after a Santa Ynez Valley pioneer, this beer is a true discovery-both rustic and refined.
Lizard’s Mouth – Double IPA
9.2% ABV, 100 IBU – What we don’t need to tell you is that Lizard’s Mouth IIPA is bursting to the gills with fruity goodness: powerful aromas of guava, passion fruit, orange zest, and pine cascading into tropical hop flavors and finishing ultra clean and deceptively smooth. It’s like being snookered by a cantaloupe.
805 – Golden Ale/Blonde Ale
4.7% ABV – A beer crafted for the coast. 805 is a light, approachable brew. Born from an all malt recipe and finished with a touch of hops, it’s slightly sweet with a clean finish. 805 is the perfect followup to that ultimate surf session or to reward a hard day’s work.
Pale 31 – American Pale Ale
4.9% ABV, 38 IBU – A tribute to our home state of California – the 31st to be added to the Union. Beautiful floral and citrus hop aromas greet the nose with undertones of lightly toasted malt. Crisp pale and crystal malts offer a hint of sweetness. Subtle hop bitterness offers a refreshing finish. Perfect for a sunny California day at the beach or BBQ with friends, Pale 31 represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state.
329 Days of Sun – Lager
4.8% ABV, 25 IBU – Crafted in the city that gives us 329 days of sun, 329 Lager is the perfect companion for making the most of sunny California days. Our go anywhere, do anything lager is full-flavored and easy-drinking with a clean, crisp finish. MALTS – 2-Row, Wheat, Acidulated. HOPS – Bravo, Tradition, Opal
Heal the Bay – IPA
6.8% ABV – The two-row pale malt body takes a back seat to the Citra, Centennial, and New Zealand hops for a bright, citrus forward, summertime drinking IPA. Part of the proceeds from this beer will be donated to our hardworking friends at Heal the Bay – an organization committed to restoring and protecting the Southern California coastal waters and watershed.
Belgian Summer Ale – Belgian Pale Ale
5.8% ABV, 15 IBU – Our summer seasonal is based on the recipe for our very popular 3rd Anniversary Ale. Aromas of clove, pineapple and bubblegum spill from the glass. The flavor is a combination of spicy Belgian yeast with hints of pear & nutmeg. It finishes with a pleasant tartness. 3rd Anniversary Ale is very light & refreshing and at the same time complex & intriguing.
Additional Information: In order to get the characteristic tartness in this beer, we employed a technique called Sour Mashing. This procedure allows natural bacteria to produce a small level of lactic acid prior to fermentation. The result is a complex, slightly sour treat.
Essence DIPA – Double IPA
8.5% ABV, 75 IBU – This beer is the essence of Southern California. A traditional west coast IPA with a distinct copper hue, enhanced by generous additions of navel oranges, sweet blood oranges and grapefruit, all grown in Redlands, CA. The citrus flavors and aromas intensify the zesty cascade and zythos hops to deliver a one-of-a-kind drinking experience. An invigorating beer with a pleasant, defining bitterness, perfect for warm weather.

4.65% ABV – Sometimes you want a beer, then you realize how much crap you need to do before you call it a day. This is it. Nicely dosed with Big, Round Hop Flavors and a Toasty Malt Foundation to satisfy your every need. But it still lets you stay in the game to do what needs to be done. A fractional IPA dosed with the latest cutting-edge experimental yet- to -be named hop varieties for juicy aroma and resin-y hop flavors.
Pils – Czech Style Pilsner
6% ABV – Our only Lager, brewed with loads of imported Saaz hops and a bottom-fermenting yeast strain that leaves it a bit lighter with a lot of smoothishness. Crisp and easy to slam yet full of real flavor and all things you yearn for.
IPA – India Pale Ale
6.2% ABV – Lagunitas IPA was our first seasonal way back in 1995. The recipe was formulated with malt and hops working together to balance it all out on your ‘buds so you can knock back more than one without wearing yourself out. Big on the aroma with a hoppy-sweet finish that’ll leave you wantin’ another sip. Ruthlessly delicious, homicidally hopped for drinking enjoyment.
Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’
7.50% ABV – A truly unique style featuring a strong hop finish on a silky body. A filtered pale wheat ale that is great for both IPA and wheat beer fans. Way smooth and silky, with a nice wheatly-esgue-ish-ness
Blazing World – Hoppy Amber
6.8% ABV, 85 IBU – Blazing World is an aggressively hoppy beer that shares characteristics with both double IPAs and amber ales. It’s hopped with an excessive quantity of Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops, giving it an intensely fruity, dank hop aroma, followed by a huge & complex hop flavor and a healthy dose of bitterness. Its amber body is deceptively dry, offering just enough malt backbone to support its distinctive and incredibly robust hop character.
Fortunate Islands – Wheat Ale
4.8% ABV, 46 IBU – Fortunate Islands shares the characteristics of a hoppy IPA and an easy drinking wheat beer. A massive dose of Citra and Amarillo hops gives it a blastwave of tropical hop aromatics: mango, tangerine, and passion fruit all leap out of the glass when poured. Brewed with 60% wheat malt, Fortunate Islands also has the mild, nutty malt backbone, reasonable ABV, and restrained bitterness to make it an outstanding session beer.
18th Anniversary – Golden Brown IPA
8.5% ABV – As we compose the text for this celebratory beer—a golden-brown India pale ale dry-hopped exclusively and abundantly with El Dorado hops—we stand ready to leap from the precipice of all we know into a new era for our company, our beers and, most importantly, our fans. It’s one that will see us exploring new territory, both geographically and creatively, as we evolve from pacesetters for the American craft brewing movement to cross-planetary champions of the worldwide cause of craft, hoisting our banner to proclaim artisanal beers’ vast superiority over stripped-down, business-driven, industrialized, fizzy, yellow mediocrity. We thank you for shadowing us for the first 18 years of our journey, and welcome you to join us for next leg and all that follows.
Stone Smoked Porter with Chipotle Peppers – Smoked Porter
5.9% ABV – Stone Smoked Porter w/ Chipotle Peppers is a thing of spicy glory, with the just-right heat of smoked jalapeños (aka chipotles) that combines beautifully with the beer’s peat-smoked malt and roasty character. The idea came about in 2006 when Merchandise Manager Chris Carroll suggested we make a special “South of the Border Stone Smoked Porter” for Cinco de Mayo that year. One sip, and we were hooked!
Green Goblin – Oak Aged English Cider
6% ABV – The Green Goblin from deep in the wood – 100 year-old oak vats, that is. Made with English apples, and matured in oak vats, Green Goblin cider is a full-flavoured, bittersweet blend, beautifully balanced to give a fresh character with a medium dry finish.
Hottenroth – Berliner Weiss
3.1% ABV, 2 IBU – Brewed in memory of my Grandparents (Fred and Sarah Hottenroth), this tart German-style Berliner Weisse is as authentic as it gets. We used lactobacillus and a hint of brettanomyces to sour this very unusual, low gravity wheat beer. To cut the tartness for those with sweeter tastes, raspberry or woodruff syrup is a traditional way to sweeten the beer. Almost an extinct style, we hope to help revive the Berliner Weisse in memory of two great people
Smoking Wood – Smoked Beer aged in Bourbon barrels
13% ABV – Brewed with beachwood and cherrywood smoked malt, and aged in bourbon barrels, Smoking Wood is a delicious demonstration of what wood has to offer when it comes to beer. This imperial smoked porter is brewed with a hefty amount of rye malt, contributing to a full body and light spiciness. Toasty oak, caramel and vanilla flavors balance the smokiness, contributing to an intense yet refined flavor profile.
Howlin’ Hef – Hefeweizen
6.2% ABV, 16 IBU – A German style Hefeweizen (wheat ale with yeast) that has a very unique banana-clove-apricot flavor from the authentic Bavarian yeast. This wheat beer is unfiltered which gives it a cloudy golden color. A very refreshing warm weather beer. Multi award winning beer in the German Wheat Ale / Bavarian hefeweizen category. First place at the 2001 California State Fair. Hops: German Hallertau and Saaz. Won Second Place at the L.A. County Fair.
Golden Eagle – Blonde Ale
4.5% ABV, 20 IBU – A mellow, balanced ale that’s golden in color, lightly hopped which produces mild bitterness. A great “starter ale” for anyone new to craft-brewed beers. Still has more flavor than the mass-produced beers. Multi award winning ale in the blonde ale category. Hops: U.S. Northern Brewer and Cascade. Silver Award at the 2003 California State Fair.
Desperado – IPA
6.5% ABV 67 IBU – One of our American style India Pale Ales – brewed with Cascade, Amarillo, Chinook, Centennial, and Columbus hops with plenty of malt to balance this big I.P.A.
Midnight Howl – Black IPA
8.8% ABV, 75 IBU – Roasted chocolate & caramel malt flavors combine with the distinct hop flavors of an American IPA to form the perfect fusion of a stout and an IPA. This big, complex ale is a true original and is definitely not for the faint of heart!
